Minutes: BOD (Board of Directors) meeting July 2, 2008 (Wednesday).
The meeting was called to order by President Steakley at 1100.
Present: Shipmates Brady, Moore, Reid, Errington and Steakley.
No LAFRA members present.
Absent: Shipmates: Simms, Clark, Alvarado, Alvarez, Phillips, Mishenko.
As a reminder – Monthly BOD meetings start at 1100.
Recommendations:
1. P1,000.00 Pesos for President’s Contingency Fund. Motion by Moore; Second by Brady. Approved.
2. Repair 2nd deck roof, and take cost off rent. President Steakley to e-mail owner of property. Shipmate
Sturkie to obtain estimates.
3. Purchase 10 VFW raffle ticket books for P2,500.00. LAFRA to purchase 10 books.
Discussion:
1. Raise monthly donation for Malnourished Children to P5,000.00 vice P2,500.00. LAFRA to manage
program. Cost from donations, raffles, etc……
2. Per their request, replaced Shipmates Alvarez and Phillips as auditors. John T. Brady and Doug
Errington are now our new auditors.
3. Tom Sturkie has volunteered to assume duties as Building and Maintenance Chairman.
4. Need Chaplain.
5. Cover outside bar with native covering.
6. Construct sliding window for outside access to bar. Cover with awning.
7. 4th of July Family Day Potluck at FRA.
8. 12 July Bingo at FRA. LAFRA to run Bingo.
9. 11 Oct Navy Birthday Celebration and Ballroom Dancing. Joint sponsorship by Branch and Unit Ladies.
10. .Youth Dart Tournament – September time frame. Ex vice-mayor Butch Echeverre to coordinate with
LAFRA.
11. Well done to LAFRA. Nutrition Month Parade held on 1 July was a huge success.
12. Kudos to Canteen and Kitchen for outstanding service on Sunday, 29 June, (Pacquio vs. Diaz fight).
Approximately 80 persons in attendance.
13. LAFRA sponsored Malnourished Children feeding 7 – 11 July.
14. Tricare Area Office – Okinawa will open satellite office in Manila by the end of the year.
15. Lifeline Medical Center and FRA coordinating medical outreach in San Antonio in September.
