Discussion:
1.        RSL golf tournament on USMC birthday Nov 10, 2008. Awards presentation at the
FRA with a barbeque for participants. FRA367 will sell beer and sodas to the golfers on
the course.
2.        RSL Subic asked FRA367 to sponsor the 19th hole for their golf tournament. FRA
canteen will donate P2000 for sponsorship—no vote required since money will come from
canteen.
3.        USMC birthday Nov 10, 2008: celebration at the FRA with a barbeque and potluck.
Shipmates Alvarado and Doty will spearhead and provide the cake.
4.        Veteran’s Day commemoration at the Hellships Memorial on SBMA. FRA367 to do a
two-bell ceremony and speak a few words. Scottie Rogers, brother of Shipmate Rogers,
will play taps live.
5.        FRA367 home fire insurance renewal. Motion Alvarez, second Brady to renew fire
insurance at P6,617 per year. Insurance covers up to P1,000,000.00 fire damage.
Unanimously carried; vote at GMM.
6.        Quarterdeck restaurant and Deli: still waiting for official receipt books from the
newly hired accountant. We will be non-VAT but have to pay 3% of gross minus expenses.
Employees will be covered by PHILHEALTH and will contribute to social security (SSS).
Employee contracts for five months at a time. Accountant will coordinate and pay all
PHILHEALTH and SSS. Employees, and legal dependents, need NSO birth certificate and
marriage contract if applicable.
7.        LAFRA has hired an additional employee for the kitchen. The kitchen and bar has
been fairly busy lately.
8.        TRICARE dental: far too costly for us in Philippines. Local dental plans are less
costly.
9.        Veteran’s Social Security kicker: have to ask for it; can get up to an additional
$1200.00 per year for vets drawing social security.
10.        Thanksgiving at the FRA: Potluck but suggested donation of P150 per person for
those who do not bring anything. Shipmate Rogers to donate a turkey.
11.        Youth activities: discussed funds, fund-raising, and the children’s Christmas
party. LAFRA bingo money to go to Youth Activities.
12.        LAFRA plans to fix the concrete pavement (used as a dance floor or dancing
events).
13.        LAFRA banking: treasurer Moore stated we need a separate US$ bank account for
LAFRA Unit 367. Motion Moore, second Alvarado to establish a separate LAFRA US$ bank
account with the FRA treasurer holding the bank book. Unanimously carried. BPI (Bank of
ther Philippine Islands) needs a copy of these minutes as well as a copy of our by-laws.
14.        FRA camera: treasurer needs to be reimbursed from the canteen and the LAFRA
P8000 for the camera.
15.        Security agency: we had a temp fill for five days which we will deduct from our
payment to the security agency
16.        Shipmate Moore to investigate motion detectors as a tool to enhance our security.
17.        PAO: we are still looking for a PAO. At present, several of us have taken photos to
commemorate events but it would be better to have a full-time PAO.
18.        LAFRA Ballroom dancing on December 12, 2008 at the branch home; tickets
available at P300 each
19.        VFW 2485 (Angeles City) Veteran’s Day raffle tickets still available at the bar.
