Minutes: General Membership meeting December 5, 2008.
The meeting was called to order by President Steakley at 1106.
Visitors or VIPs of mention: Scotty Rogers (brother of Shipmate Rogers and player of Taps at
the Veteran’s Day commemoration at the Hell Ships Memorial on SBMA).
CONDUCTED OPENING CEREMONIES.
1. Conducted a two-bell ceremony for shipmate “Captain Jack” McDonald
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Canteen Manager: Bill Moran. Small loss for the month but big expenses for new shirts,
hats, beer wrappers.
Patriotism & Americanism: NTR
Hospital & Welfare: Shipmate Alvarez: NTR
Retired Affairs: NTR
Public Affairs: NTR but still looking for a PAO.
Membership: Shipmate Simms: we are holding our own but still have several deceased
members on the Alfa roster and a couple new ones not yet listed.
Building and maintenance: NTR
Youth Activities and LAFRA update: Malnourished children’s Christmas party December 20,
2008.
Treasurer’s Report: Shipmate Moore: report accepted as read.
UNFINISHED AND DEFERRED BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS: BOD Minutes of 01 October 2008 read and acted on:
1. Motion Rogers, second Inskeep to buy a wreath for Pearl Harbor Day commemoration
at the Hell Ships Memorial on SBMA for P1000.00. Approved unanimously.
COMMUNICATIONS TO BE READ: All correspondence from National and Northwest region
will be posted on the Read Board and only significant correspondence will be read. No
correspondence read.
OLD BUSINESS: NTR
GOOD OF THE ORDER:
1. Butch Echivere to visit today to discuss sponsorship of Camile Flaviano (SP?) to
participate in the Manny Pacquiao Dart Tournament in General Santos City (Mindanao).
Shipmates Inskeep and Moore offered to donate P1000 each to help with sponsorship.
Camile was one of the top players in the past FRA367 dart tourney. Intend to discuss with Mr
Echivere re-starting the High School Scholars program. * After note: LAFRA and BOD quorum
(after the General Membership Meeting) decided to sponsor Camile for P5000.00 (including
the donations from Moore and Inskeep). After-after note: Camile took third Place nation-
wide in the youth singles dart tourney.
2. Several golfers donated P1620 to the malnourished children’s Christmas party.
3. Malnourished children’s Christmas party 0900, December 20, 2008. Discussed whon is
doing what (covered in the BOD minutes of December 3, 2008).
4. 50/50 raffle won by Shipmate Rogers (P1500 total). P750 went to the nutrition.
