Minutes: General Membership meeting March 6, 2009.
The meeting was called to order by President Steakley at 1105.
Visitors or VIPs of mention: Harley from RSL Angeles City.
CONDUCTED OPENING CEREMONIES.

STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Canteen Manager: Bill Moran. Small loss for the month but some larger bills were
paid.
Patriotism & Americanism: NTR
Hospital & Welfare: Shipmate Brewer is back from the States
Retired Affairs: next American embassy outreach rumored to be at the end of April.
American embassy announced that US passport fees can now be paid in pesos. To
visit the VA office at the US embassy now requires an appointment.
Public Affairs: NTR but still looking for a PAO.
Membership: Shipmate Simms: we are holding our own at approx 158 but still have
several deceased members on the Alfa roster and a couple new ones not yet listed.
Building and maintenance:
Wall ads: Shipmate Mishenko has done an absolutely Outstanding job selling wall
ads to raise money for the building and maintenance fund. 27 wall ads paid for and
awaiting payment for 7. Five panels still available. Tom Mishenko has earned the
nickname “BullDog” for his tireless efforts at selling all the wall ad spots plus a
couple more. P49,4000 collected thus far—expect to clear over P25,000. The building
and trim has been painted and new FRA, LAFRA and Welcome Aboard signs are now
above the main entrance.
Youth Activities: Intend to approach Butch Echivere for help in getting back on
track with our scholars and nutrition programs.
LAFRA: NSTR.
Treasurer’s Report: Shipmate Moore: report accepted as read. We are at our lowest
amount in memory but several checks still need deposited.
UNFINISHED AND DEFERRED BUSINESS:
1. Mayor’s Permit still needs worked
NEW BUSINESS: BOD Minutes of March 4 read and discussed (nothing to vote on).
See BOD minutes of March 4. The main focus of discussion was the FRAlics 2009 and
nomination of officers for 2009-10. We still need to get out there and solicit local
sponsors. Excellent response from our members overseas.

Shipmate “Sully” has agreed to run a Trivial Pursuit competition.
Transportation to/from Barretto: RAO van will be rented for the three days and a
schedule will be promulgated.
COMMUNICATIONS TO BE READ: All correspondence from National and Northwest
region will be posted on the Read Board and only significant correspondence will be
read. No correspondence read.
OLD BUSINESS: NTR
GOOD OF THE ORDER:
1. Local sponsor letters completed and now need hustled
2. Raffle tickets completed and also need hustled
3. 50/50 raffle won by Shipmate Reid (P2300 total). P11500 went to the nutrition
fund.
